You built something real, something that deserves more than a transaction. I am looking for one business to steward, grow, and carry forward. I don’t operate from a distance. I plant roots and dig in. My goal is to preserve the culture you built and honor the people who helped you build it. I am not passing through. I will put in the work to understand what makes your business run, and to earn my place in it over time.

I am one person, with a young family and real skin in the game, backed by a trusted team of experienced advisors and industry veterans. I am not a private equity firm. There is no fund waiting to flip you in five years, and no one back at an office who has never met you deciding your team’s future. I am looking for one great business to step into and lead for the long term.
I have spent my career learning how good businesses actually work, what keeps them healthy, what puts them at risk, and what it takes to lead people well. I bring that knowledge with me. But I come in with humility, knowing that what you have built took decades to earn.
When we talk, I am not sizing up what I can strip out or squeeze. I am paying attention to what makes this place work, and to what I would need to protect: your reputation, your team, the relationships you have spent years building.
Hans is the youngest of four boys, born in Norway and raised between the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains, where hard work was expected and respect was earned. That upbringing shapes how he sees business — with genuine curiosity about what makes an organization last and deep respect for the people who built it.
Before founding Upland Legacy Partners, Hans built his career in management consulting and investing, learning what separates good businesses from great ones and what it takes to help them reach their full potential. Somewhere along the way he also managed to talk a woman well out of his league into marrying him — a streak of good fortune they are now approaching eight years of celebrating. He brings a steady hand, a sharp eye for what matters, and a belief that the most enduring companies are built on culture, integrity, and treating people with genuine respect.
When he is not working, you will find him outdoors: fishing, hiking, or finding some new corner of the mountains to explore.
I am supported by a group of experienced operators and investors who believe in what I am building — and who hold me accountable to doing it right.
No pressure, no pitch — just a quiet conversation to explore what the right transition could look like for you and your business, how best to preserve your legacy, and how to protect your people.
